Faculty and staff are key partners in the delivery of the Common Curriculum.

Without the knowledge and expertise of faculty and staff plus the willingness of departments to commit time to the support of General Education, the Common Curriculum would not exist.

Course and Experience Proposals and Removals

  • Course Proposals - We support proposing a course or experiences to satisfy Common Curriculum requirements.

  • Requirement Removal Request – Learn more about the process and timeline for department chairs seeking the removal of a Common Curriculum requirement from an undergraduate course.

Common Curriculum Assessment

  • Assessment Calendar - Assessment of the Common Curriculum occurs on a three-year cycle to allow for a more intentional and meaningful evaluation of student learning. Review the calendar.
  • Assessment Assignment Design– Find resources and support for assessment assignment design from the Office of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness.
  • Common Curriculum Rubrics – Rubrics articulate student learning outcome, supporting skills, and course content criteria for each of the Common Curriculum requirements.

 

General Education Programs and Events

  • Faculty and Staff Trainings - Review our common training catalog and watch online recordings from our archive.

  • Coherent Rationale- The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requires that institutions have a coherent rationale for their general education requirements.
