Halle Tarvin is a graduate student in the Cultural Anthropology PhD program (Medical Anthropology track). She is pursuing research that focuses on how people with mental ailments utilize psychoactive plants as a therapeutic technology. Currently, she is working as a teaching assistant and is a team member for a NIMH-funded project on early psychosis and substance use. Additionally, she is the Director of Research and Analysis for a local non-profit, Texas Cannabis Collective. In 2020, Tarvin co-founded the University of North Texas' chapter of Students for Sensible Drug Policy.
